dc.description.abstract Previous studies showed that a single bout of endurance exercise effectively to reduce postprandial lipemia. However, the magnitude of reducing postprandial lipemia via exercise induced energy negative balance is still unclear. The present study was to investigate effect of the brisk walking with energy replacement by glucose on rate of postprandial lipid clearance. Methods: Nine healthy and inactive young males (age 23.8±0.2 years; height 172.8±1.9 cm; weight 69.8±1.5 kg; VO2max 49.0±3.8ml/kg/min; slope of exercise 6.0±0.1%,glucose replacement 128.8±11.2 g; energy expended 515.2±45.0 kcal) completed 3 experimental trials: control trial (CON), the exercise trial (EX), exercise with glucose supplementation trial (EXG). During EX and EXG trials, subjects exercised at 50% VO2max for an hour in the afternoon on the day before the experiment while the CON trial were rest. In EXG trial, a glucose supplementation, which the energy equal to the energy expenditure during exercise, were given to the subjects after exercise. An oral fat tolerance test meal was given to subjects in the next morning after an overnight fast. Blood samples were collected at fasting, 30min, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 h during postprandial period. Data were analyzed by using the repeat measure of two-way ANOVA for statistical analysis. Results: the results showed that the plasma triglyceride (TG) concentrations of the EXG and EX trials were significantly lower than the CON trial during postprandial state. Conclusion: The present study showed that exercise may increase the clearance of postprandial plasma TG independently, regardless energy balance.
