The purposes of this 2-year project are to analyze the performance of visuospatial ability, visual dynamic attention and eye-hand coordination for athletes in three sports (i.e., baseball, taekwondo and archery), and investigate the relationships between visuospatial ability, eye-hand coordination and visual dynamic attention. The Year-2 project is to longitudinally monitor the changes of visuospatial ability, eye-hand coordination and visual dynamic attention of baseball, taekwondo and archery athletes in different sporting stages. Methods: A total of 90 elite baseball, taekwondo and archery athletes (30 males in each sport) and 30 male adults as controls will be recruited in the Year 1. Covert orienting of visuospatial attention (COVAT) paradigm will used to assess the visuospatial ability of athletes. The finger-nose-finger (FNF) test will be used to measure the eye-hand coordination of athletes. The MOT task will be used to measure the performance of visual dynamic attention of each athlete. Data collection includes basic information, visuospatial ability, performance of the FNF test and tracking accuracy of MOT task (four subcategory experiments). A one-way ANOVA is conducted with three sports as the independent variables and performance of visuospatial ability, eye-hand coordination and tracking accuracy of MOT task as the dependent variables, respectively. Pearson correlations are used to calculate the relationships between visuospatial ability, visual dynamic attention and eye-hand coordination. In Year 2, performance of visuospatial ability, visual dynamic attention and eye-hand coordination will be monitored at training and competition stages for 6-7 months in baseball, taekwondo and archery athletes. A two-way ANOVA is used to analyze the difference between groups and sporting stages in visuospatial ability, visual dynamic attention and eye-hand coordination. Predicted outcomes: According to the project results, the relationships between the visuospatial ability, visual dynamic attention and eye-hand coordination for baseball, taekwondo and archery athletes will be further examined. In addition, changes in visuospatial ability, visual dynamic attention and eye-hand coordination of athletes will be identified among different sporting stages. This project is helpful to establish the standard operating procedures for talent selection and identification of elite athlete in baseball, taekwondo and archery, and to develop the training protocols for athletes’ visuospatial ability, visual dynamic attention, and eye-hand coordination.129 bytestext/html棒球; 跆拳道; 射箭; 視覺空間注意力; 手眼協調; 視覺動態注意力; 多物體追蹤任務; 運動選才baseball; taekwondo; archery; eye-hand coordination; visuospatial ability; visual dynamic attention; multiple object tracking (MOT); talent identification優秀棒球、跆拳道、射箭選手之視覺空間注意力、多物體追蹤能力及手眼協調能力之比較與追蹤研究Comparison of Visuospatial Attention, Multiple Object Tracking, and Eye-Hand Coordination among Elite Baseball, Taekwondo, Archery Athletes: A Longitudinal Studyreport
