Abstract

The main purpose of this research aimed to explore the relationship between the behavioral regulation in sport and the flow experience for Taekwondo players. Based on literature survey, the research used Behavioral Regulation in Sport Questionnaire and Dispositional Flow Scale II as the research tool. The Subjects were 200 students studying in Physical Education Class in high school in Kaohsiung. Data were analyzed in two parts as follows. The first part was descriptive statistics including t-test The second part was the relationship between the behavioral regulation in sport and the flow experience with using Pearson correlation, stepwise regression and structural equation modeling.

The major results of the study are:

  1. The significant difference is found in some aspects of the behavioral regulation in sport owing to different background variables.

  2. The significant difference is found in some aspects of the flow experience owing to different background variables.

  3. The positve correlation exists between flow experience and intrinsic or extrinsic motivation but there is no correlation between flow experience and non-motivation.

  4. According to stepwise regression analysis, among all aspects of behavioral regulation in sport and flow experience, the “intrinsic motivation” has the most explanation on predictability.
