擊劍被視為貴族的運動，受限於器材、設備、場地等限制因素，早期發展侷限於大專院校多為校隊及學生社團。雖然台灣從事該項目的人口不多，但隨著大專院校畢業的優秀選手陸續轉任教練，投身於擊劍運動文化的深耕，在各中小學校園推廣擊劍項目培養基層選手，參與人口也逐年增加。近年來擊劍俱樂部陸續在台北、台中地區成立，俱樂部的成立，不僅提供國內劍手有更多訓練、切磋技術的固定場所，更是擊劍推廣的強力媒介，讓優秀選手轉任教練有較多發展的機會。由於擊劍俱樂部成立時間尚短，以年輕學子為主要會員且偏向專業訓練性質經營。近兩年來，俱樂部營運已初具規模並處於方興未艾階段，優秀選手已在全國分級比賽逐漸嶄露頭角榮獲佳績，預期俱樂部將帶動擊劍有更優質的發展，而教練養成更是俱樂部發展的重要工作。

Fencing is considered as noble sport. At early stages, it was difficult to promote in Taiwan because the equipment and facilities were expensive and rare. Also Most of player participated fencing sport were joining school team or extracurricular activities at college. Therefore, only a small number of Taiwan people engaged in fencing. As time went on, more outstanding fencer became coaches, were devoted to spread fencing and training grassroots athletes in elementary school and high school. Because of the fencing clubs established in Taipei and Taichung lately, fencers had more regular places for training, practicing and also more chances to invite publics to join fencing. It provides more opportunity for the outstanding fencer to became a fencing coach and develop their career. Fencing clubs just started for few years, teenage are the majority of the members and their management focus on professional training. Some outstanding club’s fencer gained good results in different level of nationwide matches after training in past two year. The club is expected to drive the development of fencing have more quality, and coach training is an important work of club development.
