台灣棒球運動發展之研究–以台東馬蘭棒球隊為例(1965-1977)

在原住民參與棒球運動的歷史中，阿美族占有極重要的地位，本文探討台東馬蘭部落子弟為主體的馬蘭棒球隊發展概況，球隊的互動與認同關係，以及馬蘭隊後續的傳承系譜。馬蘭棒球隊成立於1965年1月2日，由嘉農棒球隊校友郭光也擔任總教練，其他教練也多半為嘉農校友。球員起初以嘉農校友的小孩為主，陸續擴及至台東其他地區。由於成員來自各學校，因此只能利用假日練球，每週六成員齊聚郭光也教練家，球員吸收棒球新知，家長則討論經費運用。當時的球具多半是自製，球場也是家長整理，可說極為克難。後續球隊曾轉往竹前公司發展，但隨著九年國教實施，許多學校紛紛成立棒球隊，球員來源受到影響，加上經費問題無法解決，最終球隊仍走上解散命運。

不過馬蘭棒球隊仍然有出色的成績，在東部地區曾獲得山地杯冠軍，全國賽部分則是1967年中華杯學校組亞軍、1970年省運會季軍、1971年中華杯公開組冠軍；最轟動的比賽則是日本撒隆巴斯女子棒球隊訪台，在台東地區吸引許多觀眾/，馬蘭地區居民對棒球隊也極為支持。當時球員在部落中屬於知識份子，有較高的地位，這是從嘉農校友就開始的傳統，但也因為球員忙於練球，往往較少參加部落活動。球隊與其他族群、教會等往來也是透過棒球賽事的交流。在球隊解散後，許多成員在棒球界仍有不錯的成就，尤其台東地區許多三級棒球隊教練都由馬蘭隊成員出任，不只使台東地區棒球運動得以繼續蓬勃發展，也讓馬蘭隊的系譜持續傳承。

The Amis tribe has occupied an important place in the history of Taiwanese baseball. The article examines the development of Malan-based baseball team, identifies the interactions and identities within the squad, and discusses subsequent contributions of the team. Malan baseball team was established in January 2, 1965 with Jianong alumnus Guo Guangye being the head coach. Incidentally, other coaches were also graduated from Jianong. Players were originally recruited from the children of Jianong alumi, but later expanded to other areas in Taitung. Since players were drafted from various schools, they could only practice on weekends. Every Saturday team members gathered in Guo Guangye’s house learning baseball know-how, while parents discussing fund management. At the time, baseball equipments were self-made, and ballpark was run parents. However, because of the nine-year compulsory educational system from which many schools organized baseball team, Malan encountered player shortage accompanied by financial difficulties that eventually led to their demise.

However, Malan team still had impressive results. They were the champions of Mountain Cup, and clinched the title in Open Group of 1971 Chinese Cup. In addition, they won silver medal and bronze medal in High School Group of 1967 Chinese Cup and 1970 Provincial Games respectively. The most sensational of all was the match against Salonpas female baseball team that attracted countless fans.

During that time players were of knowledgeable people who enjoyed higher status in the tribe, a tradition that started from Jianong era. Yet, so busy was the practicing that players rarely took part in tribal activities. It was only through baseball match could they get in touch with other ethnic groups or churches.

After the disbandment of the team, many players have had great achievements especially regarding Taitung’s grassroots baseball in which Malan alumni became head coaches. They not only guard the glories of Taitung baseball, but also carry on the invaluable heritage of Malan lineage.
