Abstract

The middle age is the age that the human bio-function starts to drop off, the resistance becomes weak, as well as the chronic disease and the incidence of a disease increase gradually. However, this group also plays the important role in both the family and job. How to improve or maintain the health and the physical ability is an importance issue. The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of the immunological cells on the middle-age persons after participating eight-week breathing technique exercise. The subjects were eighteen healthy females and the average age was 50.5±3.6. Approximately 10ml of vein blood was collected before and after eight-week breathing technique exercise. After the blood analysis, the data was analyzed by pair t-test to compare the difference among the immunological cells of the blood. The following results were found: 1) there was no significant difference (p>0.05) in the amount of white blood cells. 2) There was no significant difference (p>0.05) in the amount of lymphocytes. 3) There was significant difference in the amount of polymorphonuclear neutrophils (p<0.05). 4) there was no significant difference (p>0.05) in the amount of monocytes, polymorphonuclearesoinophils and polymorphonuclear basophils. The result showed that the chronic breathing technique exercise might improve the immunocompetence of the middle-age persons. However, more scientific researches are needed to test and prove the actual effect.
