媒體科技革新，促使運動全球化時代的來臨，各運動組織莫不以運動明星為行銷運動的策略。在國際排球總會（FIVB）2012新視野（2012 Volleyball World Vision）計劃中，期許各國排球協會積極塑造排球運動明星，協助推廣排球運動。因此，期盼透過社會學結構功能論、相關理論與文獻，以及實際訪談等，探討出排球運動明星結構功能理論基礎、分析出排球運動明星社會結構角色與功能，以及檢視排球運動明星的養成教育與生涯規劃，進而建構理想培育藍圖。經分析比對歸納後，獲致以下結論：
一、排球運動明星是社會變遷的產物，因應社會整體之需求而誕生，以維持排球體系之運作，在結構功能論基本內涵與結構的詮釋下，具有存在的意義與功能，擁有深厚的結構功能理論基礎。
二、排球運動明星背負球技、行為態度、回饋排球及理想典範等角色期待，並擁有「精神領袖」、「學習楷模」、「服務推廣」、「運動代言」等多重角色，但也承受技能表現、就學、就業、運動傷害、公眾人物等角色壓力，且面臨角色內、間之衝突。
三、未來排球運動明星應從制度面及教育面著手，使其足以擔起明星角色。即早做好生涯規劃降低就業、學業、運動傷害、制度及社會認同等問題的衝擊。設置生涯照顧與輔導等機制，結合媒體、企業，建構理想生涯願景。

　　Innovation of media technologies has brought about the age of sports globalization. Sports organizations are all relying on star players to market their sports and it has become a universal strategy. The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) expects through its 2012 Volleyball World Vision that volleyball associations in different countries around the world can proactively develop volleyball star players to help promote volleyball sports. In light of the trend, this thesis explores the theoretical basis for the structural function of volleyball star players, analyzes the structural role and function of volleyball star players in the society, and examines the education and career planning for volleyball star players based on the structural functionalism in sociology, related theories and literature, and personal interviews in order to map out ideal cultivation and education for them. Findings of the research are analyzed, cross-examined, and integrated and the following conclusions are obtained:
1. Volleyball star players are products of a transforming society and exist to satisfy the overall needs of the society so as to maintain the operation of the volleyball system. From the perspective of structural functionalism, their existence is significant and functional and based on solid structural functionalism.
2. Volleyball star players are expected to be perfect role models who possess good tactics, acts right, has a good attitude, and works for the best of volleyball sports. They play multiple roles. They are the spiritual leaders and good examples to be looked up to. They know to serve and promote and they speak for their sports. However, they must also bear pressure from their sports playing tactics, education, employment, sports injuries and publicity. It is a clash of the different roles they play.
3. In the future, the overall system and education should be emphasized in the development of volleyball star players so that they can play the role of a star well. In other words, the career planning should start early to minimize clashes among employment, education, sports injuries, the overall system, and societal cognition. Career maintaining and counseling mechanisms should be established to combine media and enterprises and construct an ideal career vision.
